What I'm doing now (Jan 2022)
I live in Oakland, in the San Francisco Bay Area although I am sometimes now down in Pasadena to collaborate with coworkers at my new(ish) job.
A little under 6 months ago I joined Near as their Global Head of Product Marketing. Near is a data intelligence company with vast geospatial data, so (just like with Knowi) getting to pull from my marketing background and my data science background seems to make for a good fit.
My priorities and goals:
- Helping Near get their products properly positioned for success in a previously non-existent SAAS category (location intelligence).
- Writing for mental wellness, not necessarily for publication.
- Spending time with my Boston Terrier pup Octavian.
My habits:
- Daily meditation.
- Intermittent fasting; eating only one meal per day.
- Daily journaling.
- Daily dog park visits.
- Keeping a calendar AND a hand written to do list.
Things that I think are great
- Coffee Guayusa tea in the morning
- Dogs
- Live music
- Kava bars
- Wing Chun
- Blockchain (but only when used for non-bullshitty things)
- Data & analytics
- Sleep that is actually restful
- The movement towards a 4 day workweek
- Rooibos tea at night
Things that I think are a stupid waste of time
- The “metaverse”
- Arguing with people
- NFTs
- Most movies
- Reading (or watching) the news
- Most things that require scrolling

What I'm doing now (June 13, 2021)
I live in Oakland, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although I am also frequently in Chicago, San Diego, and parts of Alaska.
A couple months ago I quit my job and took some time off to re-evaluate what I care about and how best to use the most productive years of my life.
Before that I spent just under two years working as VP of Growth at Knowi, a SAAS analytics/business intelligence startup.
My priorities and goals:
- Thinking carefully about where I want to be putting my skills and energy.
- Finding smart, clever, motivated people to work with.
- Building my scientific startup growth podcast SciGrowth.
- Doing bespoke growth consulting for a small number of startups.
- Getting better at sleep.
- Spending time with my Boston Terrier pup Octavian.
My habits:
- Daily meditation
- Intermittent fasting; Learning to enjoy feeling hungry
- Reading more
- Getting back into martial arts.
- Eating lots of boiled potatoes
Things that I think are great
- Coffee
- Dogs
- Live music
